Idyll Currents: Jonathan Faber

Opening reception is November 4, 6-8pm

November 4 - December 4, 2022

Abstract artist and AU alum Jonathan Faber will be showing new paintings and drawings in "Idyll Currents," a solo exhibition at the Cohen Gallery. For Faber, "painting is a physical thinking process—a way of getting involved in a kind of internal dialogue. I am engaged in making works that are primarily abstract but are also connected to a lexicon of real-world imagery."

Jonathan Faber received his BFA from Alfred University in 1994 and a MFA from the University of Texas - Austin in 2003. His work has been exhibited at numerous galleries and museums across the country, including Cue Art Foundation, the Galveston Arts Center, David Shelton Gallery, and the Blanton Museum of Art. Among his awards are those from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the Joan Mitchell Foundation. Faber is currently an Assistant Professor at Texas State University in the School of Art and Design. He lives and works in Austin, Texas. Faber will be on campus for the opening of the exhibition. He will also be giving a talk on his work in Nevins Theater on Wednesday, November 2 at 7pm.
