AU Orchestra Spring 2024 concert

Friday, April 12, 7:30pm Miller Theatre The AU Orchestra presents Music from the Movies The Alfred University Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Lisa Lantz will perform its annual Spring Concert featuring violin soloist, Candy Zhou, performing Bela Bartok’s “Romanian Dances.”

Candy Zhou is a senior at Alfred-Almond Central School. She began violin studies at the age of 5 with Dr. Lisa Lantz and Ms. Genie Meltzer, and has been actively involved with the Alfred University Orchestra and community groups for many years. Miss Zhou has performed in several prestigious venues including the NYC United Nations Headquarters, as well as with the Asian Cultural Symphony at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. In 2021, she was awarded a gold medal as a violinist in Sinovision’s Teen Talent competition. This fall, she will attend Georgetown University to study International Politics and Economy.

The concert will include music from Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, The Gladiator, and Cole Porter with additional solo performances by music major, Luke Piazza on trumpet, and cellist Brooklyn Liljehorn, from the School of Art & Design. The public is invited to this free concert.
