Beth Ann Dobie, Alfred University provost and chief operating officer, announces the appointment of Christie Torruella Smith as the university’s new vice president for Enrollment Management. Smith will begin her duties Jan. 20, 2026.

The Sports and Health Sciences major at Alfred University is quickly becoming one of the most dynamic programs on campus, offering students a strong foundation in healthcare and preparing them for a variety of career paths. With multiple tracks, hands-on learning, and a supportive community, the program equips students with both the knowledge and experience to succeed in the health sciences field. 

U.S. News & World Report recently released its annual rankings of colleges and universities and Alfred University is among the institutions of higher education recognized.

This fall marks a milestone for Alfred University: the campus community is welcoming the largest number of international students in the past six years. The incoming class for 2025-26 includes 57 international students representing 29 countries. Scholars from across the globe are bringing new perspectives, cultures, and ambitions to campus — strengthening Alfred’s reputation as a supportive, inclusive environment for learning and growth.

Alfred University welcomed its top scholarship recipients and their families to campus for a special President’s Day event on Monday, Feb. 17. Eighty-four students spent the day immersed in the Alfred experience, participating in campus tours, engaging in panel discussions, and attending mock classes led by Alfred University faculty.
