Nurila Kambar '19

Senior Analytical Chemist

Nurila Kambar is originally from Almaty, Kazakhstan. She earned her B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering with a minor in Physics from Alfred University, where she was part of the Women’s Tennis Team, worked as a Resident Assistant for three years, led the International Students Club, and joined the Women’s Leadership Academy. Nurila also helped with international student recruitment and orientation, served on the Peer Review Board, and spent two summers doing research with Prof. Tim Keenan. She was honored to graduate as a Marlin Miller Outstanding Senior.

After Alfred, Nurila completed her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she worked in Prof. Cecilia Leal’s group researching the biophysics of cell membranes. This past July, Dr. Kambar joined PPG as a Senior Analytical Chemist, where she focuses on microscopy.
