The minor in Literature gives you the opportunity to develop your critical thinking skills and knowledge of a broad range of European and American literatures. This minor is ideal if you have a passion for literature, regardless of your major. The analytical and writing skills developed in the minor help prepare you to succeed in law school, MBA programs, or careers in business or education.

Equipped For Success

English Division graduates have gone on to competitive humanities PhD programs (UNC Chapel Hill, Johns Hopkins, George Mason, Tufts) and law and business schools. Other graduates have developed successful careers in teaching, publishing, financial services, and business consulting.

In order to earn a Minor in Literature, you must complete 8-10 credits which include a 200-level literature course and either ENGL 327 (Survey of American Literature) or ENGL 325 & 326 (Surveys of British Literature I & II). You must also complete 10-12 credits of 400-level literature courses. Total: 20 credits.
