Title: Enhanced Graduate Assistant for the Judson Leadership Center

Hours Per Week: 15-20 hours

Benefits: $5,000 stipend + half-tuition waiver

Description:

The Judson Leadership Center offers leadership education, training, development, and programming for Alfred University students. We specialize in women’s leadership programs, although we have a little something for everyone. In addition to leadership development, the JLC is responsible for voter education and engagement. This is an enhanced graduate assistant position that is supervised by the administrator of the JLC. The graduate assistant will be responsible for assisting with the development, implementation, and assessment of programs as well as day-to-day office management. The graduate assistant will help with any and all of the following programs:

  • Women’s Leadership Academy – The cornerstone program of the Center; the WLA is a unique experience for students interested in independent leadership capstone projects and the intersections of social justice, gender, and leadership. This is the only credit-bearing program through the Center.
  • LEAD Athletic – The leadership development program specific to our student-athlete population. This program includes team-building, breakout scenarios, and a 1-day summit hosted by the Judson Leadership Center & Athletics Department.
  • Leadership Development Credential – Developed in partnership with the Career Development Center, the credential is housed on Canvas and offers students the ability to fine-tune their leadership skills and develop as a professional.

The graduate assistant will also help with voter education initiatives and programs. This includes tabling for Voter Education Week, National Voter Registration Day, and more. The graduate assistant will also help with day-to-day office management tasks such as answering phone calls, managing the schedule and making reservations for the space, etc.

Remote work hours are possible on a limited basis, at the discretion of the Judson Leadership Center administrator.

Qualifications:
Some experience with event planning and programming assessment is much preferred, but not required. This position is best suited for those with outgoing personalities. Organizational skills, communication skills, the ability to multitask, and experience with Microsoft Office are required. Preference will be given to students interested in working within higher education.
