Sharif Bey's “Autoethnography” to open at Alfred Ceramic Art Museum

The Alfred Ceramic Art Museum beginning Feb. 12 will host “Autoethnography,” a solo exhibition by the groundbreaking artist Sharif Bey. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Feb. 12, and the exhibit will run through July 19.

“Fihankra,” an exhibition by ceramic artist Eugene Ofori Agyei, will open Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum. The museum will host a reception from 5 to 7 pm to accompany the opening, and the exhibition will be on display through July 19.

Alfred University students excel on NYS teacher certification exams

Students in Alfred University’s education program are required to complete two or more teacher certification exams— taken during their senior year or after graduation—in order to become certified to teach in New York State. The requirement is in addition to completion of three state workshops and the conferral of their degree. According to the state Education Department’s most recent report, from 2024, 98 percent of Alfred students passed their licensing exams.

The students were nominated for awards in Acting, Costume Design, Lighting Design, and Stage Management for their exceptional work on Alfred University’s fall 2025 production of Macbeth.
